Asheville Man Charged With Drug Trafficking Near Local Preschool

Asheville, NC – An Asheville man is facing serious criminal charges following a drug bust at the Pisgah View Apartments on Wednesday.

Jonathan Elliott Woolfolk, 56, has been arrested and charged with:

  • Trafficking in fentanyl
  • Possession with intent to sell or distribute cocaine
  • Possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or distribute fentanyl
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Possession of controlled substances within 1,000 feet of a school

According to the charging documents, Woolfolk was allegedly a passenger of a vehicle travelling through the Pisgah View Apartments with a small black bag on his person. He was allegedly found in possession of between 4-14 grams of fentanyl, nearly 13.7 grams of cocaine, along with a range of alleged drug paraphernalia. Pisgah View Headstart, a federally-funded preschool program for low-income families, was within 1,000 feet of where Woolfolk allegedly travelled.

Woolfolk is currently behind held at the Buncombe County Jail under no bond, pending a preliminary bond hearing. He was out on $10,000 secured bail involving unrelated charges from a February 2026 arrest for possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
